Medical Test
The law states that
all HGV or LGV drivers are required to be in a suitable state of health in
order to control their vehicles on public roads. That is why every driver must
go through a medical exam (basic medical test) and has to be re-examined every
time their license needs to be renewed (that is after every 5 years). A medical
test is just a simple check-up that will give you and the DVLA the necessary
assurance that you are fit to drive without being a hazard to drive on public

Theory Test
The first step in
order to become a professional driver is by passing the LGV Theory Test; it
will help you to launch a career that could last for a lifetime.
The theory test is consists of two parts:
● Part 1a- a multiple
choice question consists of 100 questions
●
Part 1b- a hazard perception test, 19 videos to review
Both parts can be
taken at a different time or you can give them simultaneously, but you have to
give both the test within 24 months.
Part 1a-
You will be given
instruction before the theory exam starts, there is a practice section, you can
go through it so that to get an idea about what will come. Many questions in
your theory test will require you to give more than one, it will be stated
there, you just have to read questions properly. There will be a total of 100
questions which you will have to complete in 100 minutes.
Passing marks will be
85 out of 100.
Part 1b-
You will be shown a video about hazard perception tests to brief
you about the type of videos that will be shown to you and how to answer them.
You will be shown 19 different videos of the daily public situations on roads.
You will have to point out the developing hazard; each video can have more than
two developing hazards, so have to point-out every time you see a hazard
forming in the video. The test is based on how fast your cognitive reflex
works, so you have to answer as fast as you can. Faster you answer higher will
be your score. The maximum score you can gain is 5per question. You need bestC1 driver training to get it done in first attempt.
When you pass both the test, you will be certified to give your
next test i.e. Practical Test. If you do not give your practical test within 2
years you will have to take your theory test again.
